Waitmares!!!
This is Tiffany.  She is cute.  She is a waiter at my neighborhood cafe, Enoteca.  The other day she was entertaining me and my friend with her stories of what service industry workers call "waitmares".  These are nightmares waiters have.  You knew that.  Example: you are at home enjoying dinner when you realize, "oh my god I never gave that party their check!"  so you rush back to work thinking, "I'm gonna have to give them their check, clear down that table, batch out.  But they had to wait so long for their bill, there goes my tip.  And that was a '20 top'!"  so you get back to the restaurant and, "wait, where are my pants!"  That's just one example.  She was cracking us up with these stories.  But for real, people, tip your waiters!  Be nice, they are working so hard and they DO take their work home with them!!

Juno Temple

Juno Temple is the undisputed, undeclared queen of netflix:
Has anyone else noticed this?  When I go to netflix and surf around, I tend to land on the "emotional dramas featuring a strong female lead" which leads to me to a little film called "little birds."  Little birds is the story of 2 restless teen girls, Alison and Lily, in a small town, besties when it's convenient for Lily.  Lily, played by Juno Temple, epitomizes that attitude of "I'm a teenager, I know everything, I'm invincible."  and does a LOT of stupid stuff.  And drags her friend along with her.  But based on my viewing history, I land on "Dirty Girl" starring none other than Juno Temple!  'not a good pick, though, 'couldn't even finish it I'm afraid.  In the "Top Picks for Misty", I'm attracted to "Greenburg" because Greta Gerwig is adorable!  And there's Juno again!  Next was "Kaboom."  Juno plays a nymphomaniac.  It doesn't end well but it's a lot of fun.
The truth is she's everywhere, 'cute as a bug's ear, and that hair?  Curly here, straight there, kinky everywhere else?  I enjoy watching film trailers on apple.com because if you don't watch much actual tv, the latest releases simply are not under your radar.  There's a new film coming out called "Afternoon Delight".  Juno plays a wayward stripper.  I can't wait to see it!  Then I was intrigued by the trailer for "Lovelace."  She plays what looks to be a bit part in the biopic about Linda Lovelace.  I think that one may have been a flop but I still want to see it, it might be a sleeper and I love films based on real life.  I will watch whatever she does.  I'm not kidding.  Even "following Juno" on MTV, or "the Temple of Juno" on A&E.  JK.  I hope it doesn't come to that cause I don't have cable.

Last month we snagged a piece by Denise Prince at the Red Hot Red Dot Art Spree at the Women and Their Work art gallery.  This is a crowded event with fancy food and people (not including us!) held annually at the gallery's downtown Austin space.  I fell in love with the piece, which matches my bathroom motif of children, creepy dolls.  This photo is going between my Eya Floyd print and my Big Eyed Kid repro.  We were told by the gallery's curator, the ever-delightful Rachel Koper, that if we like the work, we really need to check out Prince's website and view her films and other visual art.  Which we did.  The site is divided up into portfolios, which each represent a different collection.  My take on Portfolio 1: this is a representation of the artist's deep sympathy for those with disabilities.  Portfolio 2: juxtaposition.  Portfolio 3: tribute to Austin and Austinites.  I'm going to follow Denise's work from now on!  I hope to meet her soon..

No Tame Impala.  No Lionel Richie.  No Franz Ferdinand.  No no no you girls never know...  It simply WILL NOT stop raining here!  It's true!  God hates you but loves Austin.. we need rain.  Yesterday, Grimes said, "ok it's really hot.  so you guys drink lots of water, cause...dehydration is............................., bad."  Grimes' dancers were doing an ancient rain dance.  At least I got to see  Grimes.
